Free Word is a cultural organisation based in Farringdon, focused on the power and politics of words.
Following a change of direction and leadership, they were keen to overhaul their website to tie in with a new programming strategy, moving from an ad-hoc to a season-based approach.
A ‘Gallery’ Space
In the spirit of the organisation’s wide variety of events and art forms, we were briefed to design a ‘gallery space’ for their website, with a minimal brand and visual styling aimed to sit alongside vibrant and varied assets, with new season designers and artists creating fresh identities for the centre’s collateral twice a year.
Technical Build
The platform integrates box office system Spektrix, and each show and page uses anchored tabs to delineate content and make for easy navigation, with a floating nav to ensure strong UX throughout the booking process.
The product roadmap is still active, and we are soon to integrate a vast archival database of the organisation’s friends and partners, along with a knowledgebase, content archive, and various reading lists.
Adding Function to Form
The system also helps Free Word manage their entire events hire process. Each of the various meeting rooms and event spaces has its own set of materials, a showcase and bespoke contact forms in order that enquiries are fully managed by the site, and administrational overhead is minimal.
